  1. Valhalla

From the recording Valhalla

Valhalla is different, it is an amazingly dynamic song. It is a Heavy Metal song that begins with classical guitars intertwined with mandolins to make a beautiful preface that crescendos into the song. The main body of the song alternates from clean guitars and vocals into heavy guitars and shredded vocals. The tempo changes to “Iron Maiden fast” about ¾ of the way through that culminates into one of the best “Comfortably Numb” style gut wrenching guitars solos you have ever heard.
Historically, Valhalla touches on the Viking incursions into Europe around 793 AD. The dramatic lyrics take the listener back in time to Viking ships and battles, with the warrior’s realization of ascension into Valhalla at the end of the song. The mandolins return softly and fade out to end the song.

Valhalla

The cold wind blows, our sails are filled, off to war again
We pray the four winds blow, were in our sea gods hand
We have to force our will, raid and take the land
We fight with steel, we’ll make you kneel, die or take my hand

Dragon ships sweep on, oars cut though the waves
The thunder of our drums, the lightning in the rain
We spill on to your shore, and take all that is yours
Through the smoke, you awoke, to find another world

Across the sand we fan the fire, and take it for our own
Your land, your life, your home, we now call our own
Odin led us here, to spread the Viking way
We came to fight, we came to crush, we came here to stay

We do not speak your tongue; we do not know what for
We come with swords to rule then, cut down your holy law
We’ve always had the right, to take your lives it’s true
And in the name of Thor, this army forces you

Run away; your precious life might be saved
Fight for us; or die underneath my blade
Run away; your wretched soul might be saved
Fight for us; or die underneath my blade

Dragon ships sweep on, oars cut through the waves
The thunder of our drums, the lightning in the rain
We choose ourselves as kings, and let our flags unfurl
We close our eyes, to our surprise, we all end up in Valhalla
